Subs For Santa
Imagine you are 6 years old and in first grade. You live with Mom and your two older siblings. Dad is gone, or only there occasionally. Mom is struggling to keep food on the table, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back. You are wearing hand me down clothes from your older sibling. The shirt is too big, the pants as well. Even the shoes don’t fit right. When Mom has a few extra dollars, you can go to the thrift store and buy something that fits better. But you can’t get underwear at the thrift store. And even if you could, how would you feel wearing underwear someone else has worn?
Imagine this.... It's Monday It is a beautiful day – a great day to go outside at recess and play kickball with your classmates. But you decide it is safer to stay inside. Why? Your pants are too big, and you don’t have a belt or decent underwear. And, you live in fear that your pants might slip down and the other children would see you and make fun of you. So it’s better not to take the chance.
No child should have to suffer this indignity. Making it a Better Day Santa America Volunteers collect new Socks, Underwear, and Belts for children of elementary and preschool age. They are distributed to schools with high levels of free or reduced cost lunches as well as shelters and any social service agencies in need of these items. All collections stay in the community where they are collected. It has been a long running story that Santa delivers socks and underwear to children that may not believe in him anymore, and sometimes that is exactly what they need to believe again.

Dashers Duffles
Its late at night, there is a pounding on the door. There is yelling and screaming from the adults at the door. Neighbors’ lights come on and they peek out to see what’s going on this time. The police officer is putting handcuffs on your parents. A stranger with an ID badge hands you a trash bag and tells you to put your things in it and hurry up. They are going to take you someplace for the night. You grab what you can in your startled state of mind and as you are walked out with your trash bag of your possessions, the neighbors point knowingly at you. You try to hide but there is no place to go but to the car waiting for you to take you someplace different and strange.
This happens all the time. Dashers Duffels would provide duffle bags to your local children’s division, local juvenile office or foster care service to give to these children that they are picking up, so they don’t feel like trash themselves.
Instead of having them put their belongings in a trash sack, how about something a lot more dignified a duffel bag. Please help by collecting duffel bags.
Preferred size is 24 to 36 inches long Thank you
